Joel Villatoro

Joel Villatoro is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of photonics. Currently serving as an Ikerbasque Research Professor at Ikerbasque and the University of the Basque Country since June 2013, Joel has previously held positions such as Research Fellow in Industrial Photonics at the Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies and Ramon y Cajal Researcher at ICFO - The Institute of Photonic Sciences, where research focused on photonic crystal fibre and nanowire sensors. Prior roles include Full-time Research Scientist at Centro de Investigaciones en Óptica A. C. and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Valencia, with early experience as a Research Associate at Case Western Reserve University. Joel holds a PhD and Master's degree in Optics/Optical Sciences from INAOE and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from BUAP.
