Yigal Agam

Yigal Agam is a highly experienced bioinformatics scientist currently serving as a Senior Staff Bioinformatics Scientist at Illumina since July 2024. Previously, Yigal held the position of Associate Director of Bioinformatics at Fluent BioSciences Inc. from October 2021 to July 2024, leading a team focused on data processing and developing the PIPseeker software suite for scRNA-seq and multi-omic data analysis. Before that, Yigal was a Principal Bioinformatics Scientist at Miltenyi Biotec and a Senior Data Scientist at QIAGEN, where contributions included managing algorithm development for NGS data analysis and providing processing pipelines for NGS platforms. Yigal commenced a career in computational biology at MathWorks as a Senior Quality Engineer, ensuring the functionality of bioinformatics products. Prior academic work included postdoctoral research in cognitive neuroscience at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital, focusing on brain imaging and visual cognition. Yigal earned a PhD in Neuroscience from Brandeis University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
