Joel Vanderkwaak

Joel VanderKwaak is an accomplished software engineer and architect with extensive experience in designing and implementing complex systems across various industries. Currently serving as Architect and Product Technical Lead for the Data Platform at Illumio since November 2013, Joel has played a pivotal role in processing and analyzing network flow data. Prior experience includes positions at SOLV Virtual Desktops, where significant cloud migration and system redesign were achieved, and leading software engineering efforts at Gigwalk, SeaBird Exploration, and 3DGeo Inc., where contributions included optimizing data management systems and developing scalable application platforms. Joel holds a PhD and MSc in Earth Sciences from the University of Waterloo and a BS in Computer Science and Geology from Calvin University.
