Birna Thorarinsdottir

Birna Thorarinsdottir is an experienced executive and leader in various fields, currently serving as Executive Director at UNICEF Iceland since May 2020 and as IMAGINE Leader for IMAGINE, a community focused on systems change, since April 2023. Prior roles include being a member of the board at RUV Iceland, Secretary General at Viðreisn, and Industry Relations Project Manager at Reykjavik University. Birna has also held positions as Director of Evrópustofa, a part-time lecturer at the University of Iceland and Bifröst University, an independent consultant as a Gender and Security Adviser, and Gender Advisor at UNIFEM. Birna holds an M.B.A. from the University of Reykjavik, an MA in Security Studies from Georgetown University, a BA in Political Science from Háskóli Íslands, and a matriculation examination in languages.
