Adam Barney has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the field of design. Adam began their career as a Student at Columbia College Chicago, where they studied Graphic Design and Illustration. At Mia magazine, they worked as a Freelance Illustrator before moving on to How Machines Work, where they were hired as a Freelance Storyboard Artist. Following the acquisition of How Machines Work by CMP, a subsidiary of UBM, it became TechInsights Studios, where Adam continued working as a Storyboard Artist within the studio division. Afterward, they joined UBM Studios as a Visual Artist, contributing to projects such as "How Machines Work" and "TechInsights Studios." At iManage, Adam held several roles, starting as a Graphic Artist before transitioning to UX design. Adam first worked as a UX Designer, then advanced to the position of Sr. UX Designer, and eventually became the Lead UX Designer. In these roles, they collaborated with stakeholders, conducted user interviews, created interface designs, conducted usability tests, and worked closely with development teams to ensure successful project implementation. Adam's work also involved reviewing direct user feedback and making accessibility improvements. Overall, their experience demonstrates their expertise in UX design and their ability to create intuitive and effective solutions for users.
Adam Barney obtained their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and Illustration from Columbia College Chicago, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. In 2019, they also obtained a UX Certificate from the Nielsen Norman Group.
