Omar Darwazah has a diverse work experience across various companies and industries. Omar started their career in 2016 as an investor at Andela, a company that extends engineering teams with software developers from Africa. In 2017, they founded their own investment firm called Darwazah Capital, through which they managed assets in equities, real estate, and venture capital. Omar also served as the Managing Director & General Partner at AAF Management Ltd., a leading venture capital firm focused on early-stage technology companies in North America. In 2020, Omar became a Kauffman Fellow, participating in a prestigious program for leadership development and innovation in the venture capital industry. Omar continued to invest in various companies, including Thndr, a commission-free investment platform in Egypt, FiscalNote, a platform for analyzing government risk and opportunity, FlashBox, a same-day delivery solution, Dayra, a financial technology startup from Y Combinator's W21 batch, Cartona, a growing B2B e-commerce marketplace in Egypt, and Oraan, Pakistan's first women-led fintech company. Omar Darwazah has a diverse education history. In 2001, they obtained a PADI Rescue Scuba Diver certification from PADI. From 2001 to 2005, Omar attended the University of Chicago, earning an AB degree in Economics and Political Science with Honors. In 2003, they briefly took classes in French Literature, French Medieval Art, and French Conversation at Columbia University. In 2011 and 2012, Omar participated in the Accelerated Development Program (ADP) at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. From 2013 to 2015, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance and Management at The Wharton School.
