Niels Smeulders

Niels Smeulders has extensive experience in hardware engineering, currently serving as the Manager of Hardware Engineering at imec since July 2002, where responsibilities include fostering cross-departmental cooperation with a focus on safety and facilities. Additionally, Niels has held various roles at imec, including R&D Project Lead for hardware, a.i. team lead for Facilities & hookup FAIN, and Hardware Manager, guiding hardware support teams and managing operational excellence initiatives. Niels's expertise lies in semiconductor industries, particularly in clean, wet etch, CMP, Epi, and GaN processing. Prior to imec, Niels worked as a FSE/Prototype Developer for Levitor 4x00 tools at ASM and served as a Maritime Officer at Jo Tankers. Niels holds a degree in Scheepswerktuigkunde from NHL Hogeschool.
