Octavian Florescu has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Octavian started their career at GE as a Nuclear Products Software Developer, where they developed control systems for the nuclear fuel rod delivery system. Octavian then worked as a Network Software Developer at Nokia before joining Quake Technologies, a semiconductor start-up, as a High Speed Digital Designer. In this role, they designed high-speed digital SERDES for fiber-optic links. Florescu later joined Qualcomm as an IC Designer before transitioning to UC Berkeley as a Graduate Student Researcher. During their time at UC Berkeley, they worked on a microchip capable of performing an immuno-assay. This technology was ultimately spun out into Xip, a company founded by Florescu, where they served as Founder and CEO. Xip developed a single-use digital immuno-assay with single molecule resolution and wireless readout. The company was later purchased by InD, where Florescu continued as Founder and CEO. In 2018, Florescu founded In Diagnostics, a company that developed a disposable blood chemistry analyzer. This technology, combined with Xip's immuno-assay technology, offers groundbreaking value propositions. In addition to their industry experience, Florescu also served as a Course Instructor at UC Berkeley for the course "Introduction to Micro-Electronics."
Octavian Florescu completed their education in a chronological order. From 1993 to 1999, they attended Lycee Claudel and obtained a French Baccalaureate. Following this, from 1999 to 2004, they pursued a BaSc in Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Finally, they attended the University of California, Berkeley from 2004 to 2010, where they earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Molecular and Cell Biology.
