Marcia Hsu has a diverse background with experience in various industries. Marcia is currently working at INADEV as a UX Lead and Functional Product Owner. Prior to this, they worked as a Jr UX Analyst & Researcher at the same company. Marcia also has experience in the music industry, serving as a Soprano Co-section Leader at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Marcia has a strong background in user experience design and research, having worked as a UX Designer and UX Researcher from 2020 to 2021. Marcia's earlier career includes roles as a Graduate Assistant and Teaching Assistant at Binghamton University, where they assisted with teaching and research activities. Marcia also served as a Data Product Developer, Web Technologist, and Ocean Technologist at Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS), where they managed the organization's website and worked with data management and modeling groups. Marcia has a background in ocean modeling research, having worked as an Ocean Modeling Researcher at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Georgia. Marcia also gained teaching experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Georgia. Marcia began their career as an intern at The Weather Channel, where they developed skills in operational weather graphics and received training in on-camera meteorology.
Marcia Hsu has a diverse educational background. Marcia obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with a certificate in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Georgia - Franklin College of Arts and Sciences from 2001 to 2005. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 2012 to 2015. In 2005, Marcia also earned a Master of Science degree in Marine Sciences from the University of Georgia - Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. Later on, they completed a Master of Music degree in Voice from Binghamton University between 2015 and 2017.
In addition to their formal education, Marcia has obtained several certifications. Marcia completed a certification in Data-Driven Design: Quantitative Research for UX from the Interaction Design Foundation (IxDF) in December 2022. In September 2022, they also obtained a certification in Accessibility: How to Design for All from the same institution. Prior to that, in May 2021, Marcia acquired certifications in UX Design and Voice User Interface Design from CareerFoundry.
