Cofounder at Inalve

Christophe Vasseur has a diverse and extensive work experience, spanning over several industries and roles. In 1998, they served as a Chargé de projet at Université du Québec à Rimouski, where they led an innovative research project on UV radiation as part of a team of 40 leading scientists. Christophe participated in a two-month oceanographic cruise to the North Water Polynya of the Canadian Arctic and used flow cytometry and microscopy to determine the abundances of components of the marine microbial food web.

From 2004 to 2006, Vasseur worked as a Chef de projet senior at IRSN, where they initiated a microbial process study on the ecotoxicology of uranium-exposed microbes. Christophe created a first-of-its-kind methodology for working with microbial processes and coordinated a group of four researchers. Christophe also supervised graduates and interns on projects related to the ecotoxicology of uranium-exposed aquatic macro-invertebrates.

From 2008 to 2011, Vasseur served as an R&D Innovation specialist at CNRS, where they were the Principal Investigator in a program on third-generation bioenergy. Christophe developed methodologies for working with microbial interactions and coordinated a group of researchers and research assistants.

In 2012, Vasseur joined Algenol Biofuels Inc. as an R&D Team Lead, where they led a research and development team. From 2014 to 2014, they worked as the Director of R&D and Site Manager at Phycoventure, overseeing research and development activities.

Vasseur co-founded inalve in 2015 and served as a Cofounder and Senior Project Leader. Inalve is a biotech company specializing in microalgae-biofilm technology for aquaculture. Christophe grew the company from zero to first €1 million in sales and expanded the team from two to 15 employees.

In 2022, Vasseur took on multiple roles, including CEO and founder of Terra Mare Nova, Senior Director of Operations at AgroInnov, and Associé & Evaluateur at Team for the Planet. Terra Mare Nova is a company that they established, while AgroInnov focuses on agricultural innovation. Vasseur is involved with Team for the Planet, a mission-driven company aiming to raise €1 billion for the deployment of 100 innovations to combat climate change, where individuals can become shareholders with a minimum investment of one euro.

Christophe Vasseur pursued their education in a variety of fields. In 1991, they attended INTECHMER (Institut National des Sciences et Techniques de la Mer), where they obtained a DTSM degree in Biological Oceanography in 1993. Following this, they enrolled at Aix-Marseille University from 1994 to 1996, earning an MSc in Biological Oceanography. Continuing their academic journey, Christophe attended Université du Québec à Rimouski from 1998 to 2003, where they completed a PhD in Biological Oceanography. In 2015, they attended emlyon business school, specializing in Marketing Innovation and Finance. Lastly, in 2016, they briefly studied at HEC Paris, focusing on Management d'entreprise innovante and earning a "Challenge +" degree.
