Sanne Govaert

Sanne Govaert is a Research Software Engineer at INBO (Research Institute for Nature and Forest), focusing on open and reproducible biodiversity research through data management and research software development. Prior to this role, Sanne served as the Coordinator of species protection programs for farmland birds, northern harriers, and hamsters at Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos. Experience also includes project coordination for "Boer zoekt natuur, natuur zoekt boer" at Natuurpunt, and a PhD at Ghent University investigating forest microclimates. Additional roles encompass research assistance at Frontier, internships at Rewilding Europe and INBO, and co-founding Ekoli, an organization promoting biosciences for youth. Academic qualifications include a Master's Degree in Global Change Ecology from Ghent University and a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the same institution.
