Zak Buys

Zak Buys is a Senior Software Developer at Inclusive Energy. Zak has also worked as a Developer at Deloitte Digital, a Lead Photographer / Owner at Lookinsidescotland, and a PhD student at the British Antarctic Survey.

Zak started their career as a student at CodeClan, where they created 360 degree panoramic images and Point Of Interest (POI) photographs of business interiors. Zak then moved on to Deloitte Digital, where they worked as a developer. In 2016, they founded Lookinsidescotland, a wedding, business and real estate photography company. Zak also developed iOS and Android apps using Unity3D (C#). Zak then left Lookinsidescotland to pursue a PhD in Chemistry at the British Antarctic Survey. Their research focused on the chemistry of the sea ice/ snowpack/ atmosphere system in coastal Antarctica. Zak used computer modelling (Fortran) and data analysis (R, IGOR) to study previously unknown chemical and atmospheric processes. After completing their PhD, Zak joined Inclusive Energy as a Senior Software Developer.

Zak Buys has a PhD in Atmospheric Science from the University of East Anglia, a Master of Science in Atmospheric Science from the University of East Anglia, and a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics and Meteorology from The University of Edinburgh.

Zak Buys reports to Gareth Selby, CTO. Zak Buys works with Vijay Singh - Technical Service Manager, Lorna Sherwood - Technical Manager, and Tom Mcqueen - Senior Embedded Systems Engineer.
