Vignesh Govindharaj

Vignesh Govindharaj is a skilled Project Scientist with significant experience in GIS and remote sensing technologies. Currently employed at the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) since December 2022, Vignesh has developed and maintains an automated GIS tool for the Small Vessel Advisory Service, focusing on risk assessment along the Indian coastline. Prior to this role, experience includes serving as a Technical Assistant and Project Research Engineer at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, where Vignesh focused on land use and land cover mapping for coastal regions. Additional experience encompasses conducting surveys as a Project Associate, evaluating rural roads as a Project Engineer, and deriving bathymetry from satellite images as a Project Student at the National Remote Sensing Centre. Vignesh has also contributed to education through part-time training roles, providing guidance to engineering students in GIS and remote sensing. Vignesh holds an M.Tech in Geo Informatics from Bharathidasan University and a B.E. in Civil Engineering from Gnanamani College of Engineering.
