Mike B.

Mike B. has over 20 years of work experience. Mike began their career in 1999 as an Engineer with the US Environmental Protection Agency. In 2001, they moved to Intrado as a Senior Software Engineer. From 2006-2008, they held various roles including Software Consultant at ESRI, Software Consultant at Mouth Watering Media, and System Architect at Gnip (acquired by Twitter). In 2008, they joined Envysion, Inc. as an Application Architect. From 2010-2020, they were with Pivotal Software, Inc., first as Director and then as Vice President of Pivotal Labs. In 2020, they started working at VMware as a Senior Director and at the University of Colorado Boulder as a Lecturer. Mike is currently a Lead Developer/Co-Founder at Initial Capacity.

Mike B. attended DePaul University from 2002 to 2006 and earned an MS in Computer Science with a focus in Software Engineering. Prior to that, they attended the University of Iowa from 1991 to 1997, where they earned an MS and BS in Geology, with a focus in Metamorphic Petrology.
