Jim Ball has had a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries. Jim began their career in the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Sergeant from 1986 to 1991. After their military service, they worked as an Electrical Engineer at Land O' Lakes, where they were involved in facility and power upgrades.
Jim then transitioned to Graffco, Inc., where they held the role of Department Head/Engineering Technician. In this position, they supervised a team of technicians and worked on designing and building test stations and microcontroller-based devices for petroleum dispensing systems.
Following that, Jim served as a Software Engineer at Revis & Associates, working as a contract engineer for Medtronic. Jim'sresponsibilities included embedded firmware development and software requirements documentation.
Jim joined Medtronic directly in 2002, initially as a Senior Software Engineer. Jim later progressed to the role of Principal Software Engineer, where they contributed to the design and implementation of Medtronic's first wireless implanted devices and associated instruments. Jim also played a pivotal role in managing a large cross-functional team responsible for developing a cellular and USB-based home monitoring instrument for implantable cardiac devices. Additionally, they helped create a new project assessment process for the Project Management Office and rewrote the Quality System for product development in the Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management division.
Jim then moved on to Logic PD, where they served as the Director of System Engineering, leading the establishment of the System Engineering department and leading proposals for new business opportunities.
In their most recent roles, Jim worked at MedSource Labs. As a Quality System Consultant, they planned and executed quality system initiatives and upgrades, ensuring compliance with government regulations and international standards. Jim then advanced to the position of VP of Quality and Regulatory Affairs, overseeing all quality assurance and regulatory affairs activities, providing leadership and development for the staff, and ensuring product compliance with regulatory and quality system requirements.
Currently, Jim is the Director of Software Systems at Injectsense Inc., where they are responsible for all cloud-based and smartphone software applications, as well as embedded system firmware applications. Jim is also an author and contributor to quality system procedures.
Throughout their career, Jim has demonstrated strong technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a focus on quality and regulation compliance in various industries, making him a valuable asset to any organization.
Jim Ball received their Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota in 1999.
