Marc Turano has a diverse work experience in the aquaculture and marine research field. Marc is currently working as the Vice President and General Manager of Land Based Systems at Innovasea since February 2022. Prior to that, they held roles at Cargill, starting as the Sales Director for Cargill Aqua Nutrition in the US from May 2017 to April 2020, and then as the Nutrition and Technology Lead for Cargill Aqua Nutrition in North America from April 2020 to February 2022.
Before their time at Cargill, Turano worked at Pentair Aquatic Eco-Systems, Inc, where they served as the Global Sales Manager from December 2015 to May 2017. Marc also held various sales and management positions within the company, including Manager of North American Sales/Sales Operations, Sales Service Manager, and Sales Manager for the Southeast US Region.
Earlier in their career, Turano held the position of Director at the North Carolina State University Marine Aquaculture Research Center from May 2011 to October 2013. Marc also worked as a Mariculture and Blue Crab Specialist for North Carolina Sea Grant from 2002 to 2013 and as a Graduate Research Assistant at North Carolina State University from 2002 to 2006.
Turano began their career as an Area Aquaculture Agent at Brunswick Community College/ NC Cooperative Extension/ NC Sea Grant from August 1999 to August 2002. Marc also served as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin's Marine Science Institute from 1997 to 1999.
Marc Turano completed their education in a progressive manner. Marc first pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington from 1993 to 1997. Following this, they obtained a Master of Science degree in Mariculture from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi between 1997 and 1999. Marc Turano's education journey continued with a Ph.D. in Zoology at North Carolina State University, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. In addition to these educational achievements, they obtained a certification in the Cargill Catalyst Program from INSEAD in April 2021.
