Linnea Fletcher is the Biotechnology Department Chair and Director of the InnovATEBIO National Biotechnology Education Center at Austin Community College, a role held since August 1999. Responsibilities include overseeing the Biotechnology Department, managing grants and subawards, and directing the NSF-funded InnovATEBIO grant, which aims to coordinate biotechnology education programs nationwide, promote high school pathways to community colleges, and foster industry engagement. Additionally, Linnea Fletcher collaborates with ATEC on algae education and serves as Co-PI on an IUSE grant to enhance biological educational research at community colleges. Previous experience includes serving as a Program Officer in the Division of Undergraduate Education at the National Science Foundation from August 2008 to August 2010. Educational qualifications consist of a Postdoctoral position in Microbiology from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, a PhD in Microbiology from The University of Texas at Austin, and multiple degrees in Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Biology from the University of California at Irvine.
