Sumit Sur has extensive work experience in the field of engineering and technology. Sumit started their career as a research assistant at Colorado State University in 1991 and later worked as an intern at AT&T Bell Labs. In 1995, they joined Qualcomm as a Project Engineer, where they spent the next 20 years as a Director of Engineering, primarily working on the Qualcomm Java Platform.
In 2016, Sumit Sur transitioned to the startup sector, joining Sphero as the Director of Embedded Engineering. Later that year, they moved on to mGive powered by Rally4, where they served as the VP of Engineering. In this role, they took charge of software team management, product roadmap development, and architecture definition for a mobile fundraising and analytics SaaS platform for non-profits. Sumit gained experience in ASP.NET based web services and SQL/cloud services backend.
In 2017, they became the CTO of Camensys Inc, a technology consulting and software development company based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Sumit provided consulting services to help companies with digital transformation, embedded software, and innovation related to big data analytics and machine learning. Sumit worked with senior management to develop strategies and implemented them through architecting, implementation, quality assurance, and project management.
Most recently, in 2018, Sumit Sur joined Inovonics as the Director of Engineering.
Sumit Sur began their education by earning a B. Tech degree in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, from 1982 to 1986. Sumit then pursued a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University from 1986 to 1988. Following that, they obtained a Master's degree in Mathematics from the same university from 1988 to 1990. Sumit Sur furthered their education and completed a PhD in Computer Science at Colorado State University from 1990 to 1995.
In addition to their formal education, Sumit Sur has also earned several certifications. Sumit acquired the certification for "Game Theory II: Advanced Applications" from Coursera in February 2014, the certification for "Introduction to Mathematical Philosophy" in October 2013, the certification for "Computational Neuroscience" in June 2013, and the certification for "Game Theory" in February 2013.
