Nick Horspool is an experienced risk scientist currently working at GNS Science since February 2014, following a role as a natural hazards modeller at Geoscience Australia from January 2009 to January 2014. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering from The University of Auckland, completed in 2023, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Science focusing on GIS and Remote Sensing from the same institution in 2008. Nick also holds a Master of Science in Geophysics and Seismology from Victoria University of Wellington (2003-2004) and a Bachelor of Science in Geology/Earth Science from The University of Auckland (2000-2002).
