Shannon Miranda has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Shannon currently holds the position of Associate Strategy Director, Research and Testing at Instrument, where they joined in 2019. Prior to this, they worked at the same company as a Strategy Lead. Before joining Instrument, Shannon Miranda owned and operated Shannon Miranda Usability Consulting since 2001. In this role, they provided consultation and collaborative design services to various industries, focusing on user-centered design strategy and implementation. Shannon also conducted usability testing, persona development, task analysis, and heuristic reviews, among other services.
Earlier in their career, Shannon Miranda owned Shannon Miranda Fine Art Jewelry, where they designed and created metal artwork and jewelry. Prior to that, they held positions at Paradigm Information Services, Inc. and HP as a UX Designer and Researcher, and as a User Experience Researcher and Designer, respectively. Shannon started their career at Hewlett-Packard in 1992, holding various roles such as Human Factors Engineer, Senior Human Factors Engineer, and Human Factors Engineer/Scientist. Shannon Miranda also gained experience in academia as a Graduate Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Chemistry Lab Instructor, Graphic Designer, and Peer Tutor and Mentor at New Mexico State University.
Shannon Miranda earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and English from New Mexico State University between 1985 and 1990. Shannon later pursued a Master of Arts degree in Experimental Psychology from the same institution, concluding their studies in 1992.
