Stephen Apkon

Stephen is a social entrepreneur and filmmaker. Founder of the Jacob Burns Film Center, Stephen served as the Executive Director for 15 years. With a vision of establishing a center for independent, foreign and documentary films and education, under his tenure the JBFC grew to become a national leader in the field of visual literacy with a renown board of directors including Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, and Jonathon Demme, among others. Prior to starting the JBFC, he spent a decade in the merchant and investment banking business, first with Goldman Sachs and then with Odyssey Partners and later Crossroad Partners, where he had significant healthcare experience.
