Byron V Karuppiah

Byron V Karuppiah is an established legal professional currently serving as General Counsel at Ahrefs since February 2023, and as Senior Legal Counsel at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) since September 2018. In the role at IPOS, Byron acts as a trade negotiator for free trade agreements including RCEP, MERCOSUR, and agreements with the Eurasian Economic Union, while also providing counsel on international matters and lobbying relations involving WIPO. Prior experience includes serving as an Associate at Michael Hwang Chambers from January 2017 to September 2018, where Byron was appointed Tribunal Secretary in multiple high-profile arbitrations and worked across various major arbitration rules. Byron began the professional journey as a pupil at Drew & Napier LLC from January 2014 to July 2015, engaging in cross-border arbitration and energy and construction arbitration. Byron earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Cambridge between 2015 and 2016.
