Stephen Brobst is the chief technology officer for Teradata Corporation and managing partner at Sampo Technologies & Systems. His specialization is in the design and construction of analytic solutions for Fortune 500 companies in the United States and internationally. He performed his graduate work in computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where his Master’s and PhD research focused on high-performance parallel processing. He also completed an MBA with joint course and thesis work at the Harvard Business School and the MIT Sloan School of Management. Stephen has authored numerous books and articles related to advanced data management techniques. He has been on the faculty of The Data Warehousing Institute since 1996 and teaches courses related to machine learning and artificial intelligence, agile analytics, real-time analytics, high-performance data warehouse design, future trends in analytics, aata visualization, capacity planning, big data exploitation, and enterprise information management. During Barack Obama’s first term of the presidency, Stephen was appointed to the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology in the working group on Networking and Information Technology Research and Development where he worked on the development of big data strategy for the U.S. government.
