Alan Kato

Mr. Alan Kato is a Brazilian national who was appointed IDB Executive Auditor effective August 16, 2022. As Executive Auditor, Mr. Kato reports to the IDB President and the Audit Committee of the Board of Executive Directors. The Office of the Executive Auditor (AUG) provides periodic, independent, and objective appraisals and audits of financial, accounting, operational, administrative, and other activities, including identifying possible means for improving the efficiency and economy of operations and the use of resources.

Prior to his role as Executive Auditor, Mr. Kato worked for over 22 years for the firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in various capacities, including Audit Partner in Lima, Peru; Audit Senior Manager in Maputo, Mozambique; Audit Manager in Lisbon, Portugal; and Audit Senior in São Paulo, Brazil.

During his time in Peru, Mr. Kato also took on the responsibility as the Assurance Transformation Leader for Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Perú, Uruguay and Venezuela, methodology, technical consultation, and quality partner. He participated in several internal quality controls (engagement compliance reviews) in various countries such as Chile, Colombia, Brazil, and Portugal. He was also the review team leader in Portugal.

Mr. Kato holds a master’s degree in Corporate Finance from Universidad del Pacífico (Peru) and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of São Paulo (Brazil).
