Affiliate Consultant & Trainer at Interaction Institute for Social Change

Rosita Choy (she/her) is a facilitator, trainer, and coach. With more than 25 years of experience with nonprofits, she combines her organizational knowledge with her skills to help clients achieve clarity, make decisions, and move forward. All of her work is infused with an awareness of power and cross-cultural dynamics. She considers how gender, race, class, sexuality, ability, and immigrant status, in addition to personality, affect group and interpersonal interactions.

Before becoming a consultant, Rosita worked for 23 years as full-time staff of local, state-wide, national, and international organizations. She began as a fundraising assistant and eventually became an acting executive director, as well as board president, for organizations in California, Massachusetts, and DC. Along the way, she worked in community organizing, coalition building, policy advocacy, program planning, resource development, finance, and operations, in the fields of immigrant rights, education, health access, human rights, women’s rights, Asian American and Pacific Islander issues, racial equity, and social justice.

An immigrant of Asian descent, born in Latin America, she grew up working-class in Chicanx Los Angeles and came out as a lesbian. She is a writer and public storyteller who performs as “Una China Latina.” Also, she has practiced Aikido, dance, and yoga, and understands the importance of movement and pauses in communication and transformation.

Rosita holds a BA in economics and Spanish from Yale University, an executive education certificate from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and a Certified Professional Coaching designation from Coaching for Transformation, an accredited program of the International Coaching Federation.
