Melanie Collins

Melanie Collins has a diverse work experience in the field of human resources. Melanie is currently the Director of Human Resources, Talent & Culture at the International African American Museum, responsible for acquiring, developing, and retaining talent, as well as creating a positive organizational culture. Before that, they served as a Senior Human Resources Specialist at Morrison Healthcare. In 2021, they worked as a Learning & Development Manager at Charleston Place, A Belmond Hotel. Prior to that, they gained experience as the Human Resource Director at Palmetto Community Action Partnership and as a Field Recruiter/Customer Service Advocate at Verizon Wireless. Melanie also worked as a Contract Recruiter at Maryland Live Casino and as a Senior Human Resource Specialist at Vulcan-Hart, where they managed day-to-day HR operations and implemented safety programs. Melanie began their career as a Human Resource Generalist at Paychex.

Melanie Collins completed their education in a chronological order. Melanie began their academic journey at Claflin University from 1990 to 1992 but did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study during that time. In 1994 to 1995, they attended Trident Technical College, where they earned an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management. Then, from 1999 to 2000, Melanie pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Organizational Management at Voorhees College. Finally, they attended Webster University from 2003 to 2005, where they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Human Resources.

In addition to their formal education, Melanie Collins also holds certifications in the field of Human Resources. Melanie obtained the SHRM - Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification from SHRM in August 2020 and earned the same SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification from the institution in January 2019.
