Alex Karl

Alex Karl is currently serving as a EUROCOM & Crew Support Engineer at Space Applications Services NV/SA, part of ESA's European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, focusing on human spaceflight and robotic exploration. With extensive experience in astronaut operations and as an ISS Flight Operations Engineer, Alex has played a critical role in the European Columbus project. In addition to engineering roles, Alex chairs the IAF Committee on Planetary Defense and Near Earth Objects and co-chairs the Planetary Defense Conference. Previous positions include Vice President of Partners and Programs at World Space Week Association, Projects and Partnerships Manager at Lazurd ivzw, and various engineering roles in organizations such as the European Commission and Max Planck Institute. Alex holds degrees from FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences and Politecnico di Torino, as well as sales training from BrightBiz.
