Senior Program Specialist at International Development Research Centre

Madiha Ahmed is an experienced professional in the fields of international development and economic policy, currently serving as a Professional in Residence at the University of Ottawa since July 2022, where contributions enhance the learning experience of students in the Faculty of Social Sciences - International Development and Global Studies. As a Senior Program Specialist at the International Development Research Centre since September 2014, Madiha develops programming focused on transforming food systems and improving access to healthy diets through research in climate change and gender equity. Previous roles include Economic Advisor at DFID, where Madiha provided macroeconomic policy advice, and Director Program Operations at Care International in Pakistan, leading a successful USAID project to enhance youth employment. Madiha’s extensive background also includes expertise gained at UNIDO, Oxfam, the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and the International Monetary Fund, supported by a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor's degree from the Lahore University of Management Sciences.
