Jan Sefranek has extensive work experience in internal auditing and business process support. Jan is currently the Head of Internal Audit at International IDEA since May 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Auditor at OSCE from April 2016 to April 2021. Jan was also an Internal Auditor at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from August 2010 to April 2016. Before that, they worked at OSCE as an Internal Auditor from June 2005 to June 2010 and at FAO as an Internal Auditor from January 2004 to June 2005. Jan also has consulting experience from their role as a Business Process Support Consultant at General Motors from September 1999 to December 2003. Jan started their career as an Audit Senior at Arthur Andersen & Co. from October 1995 to August 1999, and prior to that, they were an Audit Associate at Ernst & Young from January 1994 to September 1995.
Jan Sefranek obtained their Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Economy and Management from the Czech Technical University in Prague, where they studied from 1988 to 1993. Jan later pursued postgraduate studies of international relations at the Diplomatic School of Spain from 1996 to 1997, specializing in International Relations and Diplomacy. Additionally, they have acquired several certifications, including Certification in Public Procurement from CIPS - The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply in December 2018, Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP) from IIA-The Institute of Internal Auditors in April 2016, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from IIA-The Institute of Internal Auditors in January 2014, and Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) from ACCA in April 2001.
