Joakim Molander

Head Of Budget And Programme Performance at International IDEA

Joakim Molander has extensive experience in project management and evaluation within the international development sector. Joakim has held various leadership positions throughout their career.

From 2017 onwards, Joakim has been the Head of Budget and Programme Performance at International IDEA, where they have led the development and implementation of a results-based management system. Joakim has also been responsible for coordinating project design and proposal writing processes.

Prior to their role at International IDEA, Joakim worked at Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) from 2015 to 2017 as the Head of the Unit for Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation. In this role, they oversaw a team of ten staff members and managed consultants working on evaluation projects. Joakim developed new guidelines and a handbook for evaluation during their tenure at Sida.

Before joining Sida, Joakim served as a Counselor and Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of Sweden from 2011 to 2015. Joakim played a crucial role in managing the Swedish development program in democracy and human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Prior to their diplomatic assignment, Joakim worked at Sida from 2008 to 2011 as the Director for the Secretariat for Evaluation. Here, they managed a team of ten staff members and oversaw the procurement and quality assurance of strategic evaluations. Joakim also represented Sida in the OECD/DAC evaluation network.

Joakim began their career at Sida in 2003 as an Evaluation Manager, where they initiated and managed evaluations of strategic importance for the organization. Joakim led a comprehensive impact evaluation of Sida's Integrated Area Programmes in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Throughout their career, Joakim Molander has consistently demonstrated their expertise in project management, evaluation, and strategic planning within the international development sector.

Joakim Molander earned a Master of Arts in Philosophy from Uppsala University in 1997. Subsequently, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Philosophy at Åbo Akademi University and completed it in 2002.
