Joie Chitwood III is the current EVP & COO at International Speedway. Prior to this, they served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of International Speedway Corporation from April 2016 to November 2019. In this role, they were responsible for the day-to-day activities and financial results of the corporation, overseeing the Design and Development department, and leading major renovation projects at various raceways. Joie also served on the executive management team that developed the strategic direction for the motorsport units as well as the corporate business unit and presented at Board of Director meetings.
Joie Chitwood III has a long history in the racing industry. Their father, Joie Chitwood Jr., was a racing pioneer who helped develop Daytona International Speedway, and their grandfather, Joie Chitwood Sr., was one of the first drivers to break the 200 mph barrier. Joie Chitwood III began their career working in their father's race shop before eventually becoming a race car driver himself. Joie has also served as an announcer and track president. In their current role as EVP & COO of International Speedway, they are responsible for the overall operation of the company's 13 motor racing facilities.
Joie Chitwood III began their educational career by earning a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Florida. Joie then went on to earn an MBA with a concentration in entrepreneurship from the University of South Florida.
Joie Chitwood III reports to Lesa France Kennedy, CEO. They work with Chip Wile - President, Daytona International Speedway, Al Garcia - President Homestead Miami Speedway, and Clay Campbell - President, Martinsville Speedway.
