Vienna McLeod (pronounced “mick-cloud”) joined IWBI in 2015 and has primarily focused on the development, maintenance, and evolution of WELL standards and rating systems. In this aspect of her role, Vienna currently oversees WELL v2 and the quarterly maintenance process for all WELL programs.
Vienna also serves IWBI as the Movement Concept Lead. She is a thought leader and subject matter expert on the intersection of the built environment, policy, and physical activity. Drawing on her background in public health epidemiology, research methods, and exercise science, Vienna seeks to create people-first places that support all forms of movement.
Before joining IWBI, Vienna completed her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. During her tenure at Mailman, she worked as a research assistant on NIH-funded studies examining the role of physical activity in cancer recurrence. She also helped launch a pilot study that examined the impact of physical activity on the human microbiome. Her master’s thesis focused on the relationship between physical activity and lymphedema outcomes in a cohort of breast cancer survivors.
