Waad Husein

Waad Husein serves the Digital Product team at the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) as a UX Specialist. She earned a Bachelors of Architecture and a Bachelors of Environmental Design from the College of Design at North Carolina State University. Waad’s interest in the built environment centered around community and public space. During a study abroad trip to Prague, she researched inclusion within public spaces and the privatization of public spaces within her own community in Raleigh, NC.

With an unending curiosity about people, Waad found a natural progression toward human centered design. As a UX Specialist, she brings this awareness to better understand human behavior and perspectives. Waad uses a multidisciplinary approach to design, using her background as a stepping stone to drive innovative and culturally-sensitive solutions.

Waad’s UX portfolio includes projects such as a B2B solution for a retail company which enhances communication between employees and customers who are Deaf and an app that supports mental health and wellness for the children of first generation immigrants. Waad is excited by opportunities where she can solve problems that serve different populations. With this in mind, she seeks to keep accessibility at the forefront of all design solutions.
