Peter Soema has a diverse work experience in the field of vaccine development. Peter started their career as a Research Intern at The University of British Columbia, where they worked on a project involving magnetized mesenchymal stem cell targeting to the eye. Peter then joined Leiden University as a Student Assistant and later worked as a Research Intern, focusing on TMC-protein conjugates for nasal vaccination.
In 2011, Peter Soema joined Intravacc as a PhD Student, collaborating with Leiden University. Their research focused on developing novel influenza vaccines, and they gained expertise in vaccine formulation, stabilization, testing with in vitro and animal models, vaccine immunology, and design of experiments. After completing their PhD in 2014, they continued working at Intravacc in various roles such as Scientist Vaccine Delivery Technology, Program Manager, and currently as a Project Manager.
Throughout their career, Peter Soema has gained extensive knowledge and experience in vaccine development, project management, and scientific research.
Peter Soema obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences from Leiden University in 2009. Peter then went on to earn a Master of Science (MSc) in the same field from Leiden University between 2009 and 2011. In 2011, Peter Soema completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Vaccinology from Leiden University.
In addition to their degrees, Peter Soema also obtained certifications during their education. In January 2009, they obtained the Health Physics level 5B certification from the National Centre for Radiation Protection. In January 2011, they obtained the Article 9 of the Experiments on Animals Act certification from Leiden University.
