Mark Morris has extensive experience working in the fields of defense, security studies, and counter-trafficking. Mark has held positions at Invictus International Consulting, LLC, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the George C. Marshall Center, among others. Their responsibilities have included policy analysis, program management, and teaching at the graduate level. Prior to their civilian career, Morris served in the U.S. Navy, where they held a variety of roles, including Chief of the U.S. Naval Mission to Colombia and Commanding Officer of the Military Sealift Command Office in Souda Bay, Crete.

Mark Morris completed their high school education at W. H. Page Senior High School, but the dates are unspecified. Mark received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Texas A&M University between the years 1978 and 1982. Later, they earned a Master of Science degree in Economics from the same institution during the period of 1987 to 1989. Additionally, they received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Prairie View A&M University from 1987 to 1990. Morris gained a certificate (with Honors) in Spanish language from Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in 2005. Finally, they completed their education with a Master of Science degree in National Security Strategy from National War College and another Master of Science degree in National War College: National Security Strategy from National Defense University between 2010 and 2011.
