Kiersten Henderson, PhD

Kiersten Henderson, PhD has extensive work experience in data science and research. Kiersten served as the Director of Data Science at ioCurrents from 2019 to the present. In this role, they developed machine learning algorithms and implemented a pipeline for real-time anomaly detection on marine vessel engines using IoT data. Kiersten also developed deep learning fuel and trip optimization algorithms to minimize fuel usage, voyage cost, and voyage time for marine vessels.

Prior to their role at ioCurrents, Kiersten was a Sr. Data Scientist at Berkeley Data Science Group from 2017 to 2019.

Kiersten began their career at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where they worked as a Staff Scientist/Postdoctoral Fellow from 2006 to 2016.

Kiersten Henderson, PhD, began their education in 1996 at McGill University where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biology in 2000. Kiersten then pursued further studies at the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Genetics & Cell Biology from 2000 to 2006. Recently, in 2018, they completed their Master of Information & Data Science degree at the UC Berkeley School of Information.
