Phil Howson has an extensive work experience, beginning in 2002 as a Developer for MIK UK Ltd, where they worked on a number of applications for the company who specialize in Business Intelligence and OLAP products. In 2004, they joined Morgan Stanley as an Associate for the Bondtrading Technology team, where they worked on collecting, aggregating and analyzing historical market data. In 2006, they moved to UBS as an Analyst for the Quantitative Trading Strategies desk, and then to the Equity Algorithmic Trading team as a Developer. In 2008, they joined Barclays Capital as an Algorithmic Trading Developer, and then in 2009 moved to GSA Capital as an HFFX Desk. In 2015, they became a Partner at XTX Markets, and in 2016 retired. In 2017, they became a Mentor at Techstars, and in 2021 joined Y Combinator as a S21 Batch. Most recently, in 2019 they became the Chief Technology Officer at Iona Mind, where their mission is to make cost-effective, evidence-based and personalized mental health support accessible to everyone.
Phil Howson attended Imperial College London from 2001 to 2004, where they achieved a 1st in Computing. Phil then attended Y Combinator in 2021 for the S21 Batch.
