Dean Kassmann

Dean Kassmann has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Dean is currently serving as the Vice President of Engineering at IonQ since November 2021. Before joining IonQ, they held various positions at BLUE ORIGIN from 2008 to 2021, including Senior Director of Advanced Technology, Director of Flight Sciences, New Shepard Simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop Lead, New Shepard Avionics Software Architect, and Senior Software Engineer. Prior to BLUE ORIGIN, they worked at Amazon.com as a Business Analyst and Senior Operations Research Scientist from 2004 to 2008. Dean began their career at Aspen Technology as a Senior Technologist from 1999 to 2004.

Dean Kassmann holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Rice University, which they obtained from 1993 to 1999. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, where they earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from 1990 to 1993. Before attending Washington University, Dean Kassmann had briefly studied at Purdue University in 1989-1990, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned.
