Garrett Wheeler has worked in various roles in the field of research and development since 2013. Garrett began their career as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Wisconsin Madison, where they developed room temperature, aqueous synthesis conditions for novel p-type oxide materials. From 2019 to 2021, they worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, where they gained experience in scale-up from laboratory scale toward industrial scale Li-ion NMC/graphite batteries for fast charge applications (10 minute charge). Garrett also investigated cell optimization, roll-to-roll manufactured coating quality, and failure pathways in NMC batteries. Currently, they are employed as a Senior Research Scientist and Electrochemical Researcher at Iontra LLC, where they are improving synthetic methods for next-generation conversion anode materials through mechanistic insight.
Garrett Wheeler obtained their Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Colorado State University in 2013, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Materials Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018.
