Tonya Mjelde

Tonya Mjelde is an accomplished educator with extensive experience in school leadership. Currently serving as Principal at the International Programs School since August 2022, Tonya previously held the position of Assistant Principal at Aldar Academies from August 2020 to August 2022. Tonya's tenure at Portland Public Schools spanned from August 2008 to August 2020, during which time Tonya served as Vice Principal, Assistant Director of ESL, Instructional Coach, and Teacher and Head of Department. In terms of education, Tonya is pursuing a Professional & Executive Development program at Harvard Division of Continuing Education, set to complete in June 2024, and holds a Principal License in Educational Leadership and Administration from Portland State University, along with a Master of Education from the same institution. Additionally, Tonya earned a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and International Studies from Iowa State University.
