Medical Physician at Iqarus

Pylhon MAKEMBO has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Pylhon began their career as an intern doctor at the Provincial Hospital of Nord-Kivu in DR Congo from December 2012 to February 2014. During this time, they gained experience in various departments, including Gyneco-Obstetrics, Surgery, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, and Neuropsychiatry.

Following their internship, Pylhon worked as a medical doctor at Rutshuru General Reference Hospital in DR Congo from June to December 2014. Pylhon treated a large number of patients as part of the mission of MSF France.

In August 2015, Pylhon became a medical doctor at Goma Regional Military Hospital in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo. Pylhon provided medical care to military personnel, their dependents, and civilians affected by conflict.

From January to June 2016, Pylhon served as a medical doctor and TB focal point at Kabaya District Hospital in the western province of Rwanda. Pylhon worked in various departments, including maternity, emergency, surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, neonatology, outpatients, and GBV. Additionally, they took on the role of the head of the internal medicine department and focal point for TB.

Starting from July 2016 and ending in December 2018, Pylhon worked as a medical doctor at Kirehe District Hospital in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. This hospital, located near the borders of Rwanda, Tanzania, and Burundi, received a large number of patients, including local people, Burundian refugees, and foreigners.

From January 2019 to August 2020, Pylhon worked as a medical doctor at Kibagabaga District Hospital in Kigali, Rwanda. Their responsibilities included working in the maternity and emergency departments, as well as providing medical supervision to 16 health centers.

Between January 2021 and May 2021, Pylhon was deployed in the Central African Republic as a medical doctor with MSF France. Pylhon worked at Paoua Hospital, where their responsibilities included pediatrics, internal medicine, TB/HIV services, and non-communicable diseases.

Most recently, Pylhon has been working as a medical physician at Iqarus in the Project UNHCR 50 (Covid-19) in Cox Bazar, Bangladesh. Pylhon is responsible for the primary health clinic and provides healthcare services to international and national UN staff from eight different agencies.

Throughout their career, Pylhon has gained experience in various medical specialties and has been involved in providing care for a diverse patient population in different regions of Africa.

Pylhon MAKEMBO completed their high school education at Maele College from 1994 to 2001, earning a High School Diploma with a focus on Mathematics and Physics. Pylhon then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences, General at the University of Goma from 2006 to 2009. Subsequently, they continued their education at the University of Goma and obtained another Bachelor's degree in Medicine from 2006 to 2014. In 2016, Pylhon attended the Rwanda Higher Education Council to further their studies in Medicine, completing another Bachelor's degree.
