Beto Altamirano has worked in the technology and energy sectors since 2017. In that year, they co-founded and served as CEO of Irys Technologies, Inc., a company that builds AI-driven tools to engage communities and bring real-time visibility and data analytics to urban stakeholders. In 2022, they became a member of the United Nations Task Force on Digitalization in Energy, serving as the U.S. member. Beto's role in this task force is to enable constructive subject-matter technical and policy dialogue to bridge the gap between academic research, industrial innovations, and policy needs and achieve higher levels of efficiency in the energy system.
Beto Altamirano has a long history of education and certifications. Beto obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Government from The University of Texas at Austin in 2013. Beto then went on to earn a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School in 2022. Beto also obtained certifications in Management, Leadership, and Decision Sciences from Harvard Kennedy School in 2022, NTI Environmental Justice Planning from Rutgers University-Newark School of Public Affairs and Administration in 2015, Leadership, Organizing and Action from Harvard Kennedy School in 2015, Foundations in Public Participation from IAP2 in 2015, and Techniques for Effective Public Participation from IAP2 in 2015.
