Alfonso Valencia

Alfonso Valencia is a prominent figure in the field of life sciences, serving as the Director of the Life Science Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre and as a Senior Scientist at ICREA since March 2017. With extensive experience, Valencia has been a member of EMBO since June 2005 and the Director of the INB Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute since 2003. Currently, Valencia leads the IMPaCT Spanish Personalised Medicine initiative as Principal Investigator for IMPaCT-Data and holds various editorial positions, including co-Executive Editor for Bionformatics OUP, Associate Editor for FEBS Letters, and Section Editor for Molecular Oncology. As a Fellow and founder member of the International Society for Computational Biology, Valencia also serves as President Elect.
