Kevin Martin has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Kevin began their career in 2008 as a Family Physician at Fern Tree Clinic and Wellington Medical Clinic. In 2013, they became the Chair of Oceanside Division of Family Practice, where they oversaw various projects and collaborations, including the formation of the Nanaimo Medical Staff Association and the support of the Snuneymuxw First Nations Health Centre.
In 2015, Kevin took on the role of Lead-Co designer and convener for the Small Divisions Collaborative, where they negotiated for increased funding and support for smaller divisions of family practice. Kevin also served as a member of the LMDP Cohort 6 at GPSC.
Kevin's career continued to progress, and they held positions such as Treasurer and Board Officer at BC Family Doctors, where they advised on organizational rebranding and strategic direction. Kevin also served as a Board Member at Doctors of BC, representing mid-island, Vancouver Island, and advocating for physician wellness and diversity.
In 2016, Kevin joined Wellington Medical Clinic as a Family Physician and later became the Rotating Lead Physician. Kevin also took on roles at Island Health, serving as the Medical Lead and Division Head of Family Practice at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and as the Co-Lead Family Doctor of the Day.
Additionally, Kevin has been involved in academia, working as a Clinical Associate Professor at The University of British Columbia and serving on the UBC IMG ROS Committee.
Through their various roles, Kevin has demonstrated competencies in leadership, negotiation, advocacy, and strategic planning. Kevin has contributed to the improvement of healthcare services and the well-being of physicians.
Kevin Martin attended the University of the Witwatersrand from 1996 to 2002, where they earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. Kevin also completed their CCFP degree at CFPC, although the start and end years are not provided.
