Kent Mortensen has a diverse range of work experience in the field of mechanical engineering. Kent also worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Lockheed Martin from 2001 to 2009, where they supported the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle program. Kent worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at ISYS Technologies from 2010 to 2012, providing design support to the Crew and Service Module Mechanisms team for the Lockheed Martin Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle program. Kent then worked as a Mechanical Engineer III at Sierra Nevada Corporation / Aerotek from 2012 to 2014, where they performed aircraft design modifications and supported the SNC Dream Chaser spacecraft. Finally, Kent returned to ISYS Technologies in 2014 as a Mechanical Design Engineer.

Kent Mortensen attended The University of New Mexico from 1989 to 1994, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. After that, Kent pursued further education at Ecotech Institute, although the specific years of enrollment and completion are not provided.
