Ryan Smith has diverse work experience in the engineering field. Ryan began their career as a Nuclear Equipment Operator at Duke Energy Corporation from 2012 to 2014. Ryan then moved on to work at Idaho National Laboratory as a Reactor Engineer from 2014 to 2015, where they performed nuclear reactor physics computational analyses and assisted in the development of computational nuclear reactor applications. Ryan joined Naval Nuclear Laboratory in 2015 as a Nuclear Design Engineer until 2018, where they provided design and analysis support for nuclear design products and managed job-streams on Linux computing clusters. From 2018 to 2020, Ryan worked as a Software Engineer at Naval Nuclear Laboratory, contributing to the development and deployment of computational tools and methods for nuclear reactor core design applications. Currently, they are working at ISYS Technologies as a Software Engineer, subcontracted with Lockheed Martin for the NASA Artemis II program, focusing on the design, development, verification, and deployment of real-time flight software systems.
Ryan Smith attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they studied Nuclear Engineering. Later, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science at Syracuse University.
