Rui Milagaia

Rui Milagaia has extensive work experience in various roles related to software development and technology innovation.

In 2010, Rui co-founded NextReality, a leading company specializing in Augmented and Mixed Reality solutions. At NextReality, they served as the Co-Founder and Head of R&D, working with global brands and media owners to create innovative solutions and vertical products for industries such as tourism, real estate, retail, industrial maintenance, and advertising.

Alongside their work at NextReality, Rui also co-founded BigAR in 2016, where they served as the Co-Founder and Software Architect. BigAR developed mobile and web tools with a focus on providing cutting-edge services for 2D collectibles. Rui led the development of an Augmented Reality engine capable of processing a large dataset of images on mobile devices.

Prior to their entrepreneurial ventures, Rui gained experience as a Software Engineer at Saphety from 2011 to 2012. Rui'sresponsibilities included being the lead developer for a portal integrating multiple GS1 services and contributing to the development of one of those services using technologies such as Java, C#, XML, XSD, WCF, HTML, CSS, ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, Javascript, jQuery, and KnockOut.

Rui also worked as a Mobile Developer Freelancer and an Android Developer at Coding Buffalo from 2013 to 2016, specializing in mobile application development.

In 2017, Rui co-founded IT People Group, assuming the role of Co-Founder and CTO. IT People Group is a technology-focused company providing comprehensive solutions for clients.

Furthermore, Rui has joined two other start-ups as a Co-Founder and Head of R&D. Rui joined Tandem Incubator in 2016, harnessing the power of Augmented Reality/Mixed Reality to support pre-seed startups with transformative ideas. At Arcane Tinmen, which they joined in 2020, Rui serves as a Software Architect.
