Denny McDermott has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Starting in 1985, they worked as a Fire Protection Engineer at Tenera Engineers & Consultants, providing consulting services to nuclear power facilities in the US. From 1989 to 1996, they worked at Parsons as a Project Manager and Lead Engineer, overseeing fire protection and life safety projects at DOE's Savannah River Site. Following that, from 1996 to 2002, they worked at Day & Zimmermann as a Project & Site Manager, responsible for managing a contract engineering and design team at a chemical production facility. McDermott then joined BE&K/KBR Engineering in 2002 as the Operations Manager and Chief Engineer, overseeing their local business operations in Virginia. In 2009, they joined ITAC as the Director of Projects and Business Development, where they identified new customers and partnerships and ensured project execution met customer expectations. McDermott later became the Vice President of Construction and, in 2022, the Vice President of Project Development at ITAC.

Denny McDermott obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a specialization in Fire Protection, from the University of Maryland between 1980 and 1985. Later, between 1998 and 2000, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration at Averett University.
