Chief Economist For Latam At Itaú at Itau Corpbanca

Andres Perez has extensive work experience in the fields of economics and finance. Andres currently holds the position of Chief Economist for Latin America at Itaú Chile, where they have been since August 2023. Prior to this role, they served as the Chief Economist for Chile and Colombia at Itaú from August 2021 to August 2023.

Before joining Itaú, Andres worked as a Board Member at ENAMI Empresa Nacional de Minería from January 2020 to August 2021. Andres also held significant positions at the Ministry of Finance - Chile, including Head of International Finance from March 2018 to August 2021, and Head of Advisors from June 2020 to May 2021.

Andres has a strong background in economic research and analysis, having served as an Advisor at the Central Bank of Chile from November 2016 to March 2018. Andres has also been involved in academia, working as a part-time Professor at the Institute of Economics in the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile from August 2017 to December 2017.

In terms of international experience, Andres worked as an International Financial & Economic Associate at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from July 2015 to July 2016. Prior to this, they served as an Advisor to the Executive Director for Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, & Uruguay at The World Bank from April 2011 to September 2012.

Before joining the public and financial sectors, Andres gained experience in the private sector as well. Andres held various positions at Gasei S.A., including Commercial Manager, Partner, and Member of the Board of Directors from November 2007 to March 2009. Andres also served as a Product Manager at Gasei S.A. from April 2004 to October 2007.

Andres Perez has a diverse education history. Andres completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master's of Public Policy from the University of Chicago, with the former degree attained between 2013 and 2015, and the latter from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they pursued Graduate Studies in Economics at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile from 2009 to 2011, specializing in Macroeconomía. Andres also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics from the University of Chicago, which they obtained from 1999 to 2003. Additionally, they studied International History as part of the General Course at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 2001 to 2002. Finally, they attended The International School Nido de Aguilas between 1987 and 1999, although no specific degree or field of study is listed for that institution.
