Peter Smith began their work experience as Vice President - Asia Client Services at Marsh in 2007, where they served as a Client Executive responsible for executing client-focused strategies and delivering superior results in various insurance product lines. Peter then joined Chubb in 2017 as a Senior Underwriter, specializing in Global Casualty - Domestic. In 2018, they transitioned to ITOCHU International Inc., initially assuming the role of Senior Manager, Insurance, and later progressing to Director, Insurance.

Peter Smith has a diverse education history that includes both undergraduate and graduate studies. In 1999, they attended the University at Albany, SUNY, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. Their major was a dual study in Political Science and East Asian Studies, which they completed in 2004. In the same year, Peter participated in a Study Abroad program at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, focusing on the Japanese language.

Following their time in Japan, Peter joined an intensive language program at Nagoya University in 2005 to further their proficiency in Japanese. Subsequently, they pursued research studies at Shiga University from 2005 to 2007 as a Research Student, with a focus on Contemporary Japanese Politics and Risk Studies.

More recently, Peter attended Baruch College from 2020 to 2023 to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General.

Furthermore, Peter obtained a certification in "Cybersecurity: Managing Risk in the Information Age" in February 2019. This certification was awarded by Harvard's Office of the Vice Provost for Advances in Learning, in collaboration with HarvardX.
